Under Pressure...

Well things have taken quite a turn! Who would have thought that I could meet little Evelyn so early! Here is what has been happening...

The last few weeks have been crazy. At first I was just feeling icky and wasn't able to do much, but then my energy came back! THEN we had an issue with her lack of movement again and the Dr made us go to L&D. This was on the day before Mother's Day. They put my on a monitor and Evie wasn't moving much. We stayed there until 2 in the morning, but eventually she started kicking and dancing and doing her thing! She is already trying to worry her mommy and daddy! Everything looked fine and we were told to just keep an eye on her movement. If she stopped moving again then we were told to go back to L&D as soon as possible! I had a little talk with her and I think she got the message because she has been doing high kicks ever since! THEN the following day I got a cold. It was terrible because I couldn't take anything. I was just a coughing, sneezing, snotty mess! Poor Joey took care of me, but within a few days it cleared up. Finally everything was looking up and we were looking forward to take the next five weeks to get ready for our baby girl's arrival... then the swelling started.

Don't get me wrong. I am 8 and a half months pregnant so I have had some swelling, but nothing too serious. I have had just enough that I have to wear flip flops and try to put my feet up at the end of a hard day... no biggie! Then one day I couldn't feel my feet! I looked down and I was so swollen from the calves down that I couldn't feel the tops of my feet! Everyone told me that was normal so I just went on my way. The went on for days, but again, I thought it was normal! Then one day my started hurting... bad and my vision was a little different. I checked my blood pressure and it was 133/85. Now that isn't a terrible read, but when the highest blood pressure you ever really have is 110/75, you tend to worry! I thought it was just a fluke and decided to test it again later and when I did, it was a little higher and then later it was a little higher. By the time I got the the Dr the next day it was 142/101. The worry was it had gotten up so fast and on the day it was 142/101, I didn't go to work and I pretty much tried to take it easy all day!

The Dr said if I was already 37 weeks he would have sent me to L&D to have the baby. He didn't want to risk it since this came on so fast. The decision was to wait a week until I am 37 full weeks and then induce, that is unless it gets worse. So I had to go back on Friday to get another BP and then to the hospital yesterday to get some more tests run. Everything has stayed steady at about 138/85-90, but that is only with my on bedrest. So here I am, on bed rest and already losing my mind! I was told complete bedrest unless I need to go to the bathroom... we'll see how it goes. I have to continually check my BP to see if it gets higher. If I can keep everything in check then we will wait this next week and then she will be here! YEAH!

Everyone has been so great and supportive and I am so grateful! Please keep us in your prayers.

I will be doing very little this next week if someone wants to give me a call cause they are bored... :o)! I go back to my Dr on Tuesday and hopefully we will be able to set the date for induction instead of just 37 weeks. He mentioned June 2nd because that will be a week later and that will be the date that she is considered full term, but it could be the day before or a few days later. Once I know more I will let everyone know!

Thank you again everyone!

Oh yeah... it is very early right now so I am not going to look this over. If anyone finds a major typo... Aimee :o)... then let me know so I can fix it! LOL!

Baby Showers!

Well I was waiting to put pictures up from my baby showers, but since I never take pictures I have to wait until people send me copies and I'm still waiting for pictures from 2 showers, but it's been too long since I blogged so I will go ahead and post about them!

I had a shower at the church about a month ago now. I was so nervous because, if you know my at all, I hate being the center of attention, but I had fun and I know that I have a lot of people who care about me and my family. I am a very lucky person and am grateful for all the love I get everyday! The shower was thankfully small and quick! :0) It was a perfect to start getting ready for the baby!

My friends Leslie, Jasmine and Elizabeth through me another baby shower a few weeks later. Luckily the church shower prepared me! Again I had a lot of fun and I didn't even mind playing games! hehe Here are just a few pictures. All the ones I have are just of me and we don't need to see all that! I will post more if and when I get them! :)

Here is my pretty and YUMMY cake!

Here is just one of me... I can't wait to start jogging again!

Then I had a surprise baby shower yesterday at my grandmother's house! I was told we were going to have a Mother's Day surprise for my grandmother and even though everyone was acting a little funny, I believed them! When I walked in I was greatly surprised to see all the women in my family dressed in pink and the entire room decorated for a baby shower! They threw me a diaper shower and thankfully I had the other two showers to prepare me. This time the games we played were a little involved. We played pin the baby to the mommy ( I pinned the baby coming out of the mommy which I thought was very appropriate!), the close pin leg crossing game, the guess the candy in the diaper game (yuck!) and then a game where we had to pick out safety pins from a bowl of rice while blindfolded! Harder than it looks! All the women gave me advice and of course we ate!

Joey even gave me a gift for my shower! There was a red box tied with a white ribbon and of course I recognized it from Red Envelope (if you have never looked at their website then you should... you would LOVE it). I opened it and it was a beautiful silver necklace.

It's called "Mother's Eternal Love" and this is the description that comes with the necklace: "Rendered from a single, unending loop of sterling silver, this pendant is a unique interpretation of mother and child caught in an eternal embrace." Isn't that beautiful! I have an amazing husband!

Unfortunately after the shower, Joey and I had to go to the hospital to get Evelyn checked out. She was moving a lot less and we needed some piece of mind. We didn't get home until after 2AM so that is why I am sitting here blogging and leaving church to go to a Mother's Day lunch. I will post more about Evie and everything that happened a little later. Basically the outcome is everything is alright, except our little stinker likes to play tricks, but I will explain more later!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day!
